A blog of a young chick from Poland, who likes all sorts of different things...
I like musicals, vintage stuff, horror films, silent films and films in general, music, cartoons and animated films, nostalgic stuff and lots of other things.

As for my surname (which is über-French), no one in my family even bothers correcting people anymore. Unfortunately, the anglicized pronunciation is really ugly. My mother’s maiden name fares even worse (it’s Dutch).
I’ve given up on getting people to say my last name correctly, too (‘tis extremely German). My first name is easy, so I just have people call me that and the formalities be damned, lol.
On about 65% of the mail my parents and I get, our last name is spelled wrong. Random letters being added in, changed, or removed. Sometimes all of the above.
For some reason people tend to add an s to Micha, both in spelling and in pronunciation. In the US it was usually spelled Micah or Mika, but I don’t blame them for that, I didn’t make them try to say Micha ;)
Ahn… People usually mistake my second name and 2 of my surnames (I have… 3) and they can even forget my first name that is MARIA! I’m usually called Ana Carolina, when they get Maria right, they call/write “Caroline” or “Karolina”. My surnames… One they can NEVER pronounce right and the other everyone just forget the second ‘L’.
Geez, my name is so easy for Brazilian standarts D:
While people don’t have problems with my my first name, my last name is the one that gets misspelled the most… I don’t know why, but no matter how loud, how slow and how clear I pronounce my last name, there’s always 95% chance that it’s going to be misspelled or read wrong…. grrr… :-P (Source: illusionsinthedark)
